RECYCLING INK CARTRIDGES
I am collecting recyclable ink cartridges towards raising some money for church funds. There is a box at the back of church, and a list on the notice board of the cartridges I can recycle and get money for. Some cartridges are easy to get money for then others, the original cartridges get more money than a compatible type.
Summer has arrived!
Weather has always been a number one topic of conversation – we are either complaining it is terrible and where’s the summer, or like this year we have had several weeks of sunshine and my complaint is I am TOOO hot and I would like it to rain to cool things off!
I noticed in the churchyard yesterday that the grass is all singed and brown – but how come the weeds are still in there and they are green???? In some ways it could be seen as a positive in that we don’t have to worry about getting the lawn mower out…..
Changes are taking place in the Retford Team Ministry and parish, this week (15th July) Sue Caddy the incumbent of All Hallows Ordsall, joined us to take the service and St Michaels will be part of a new parish consisting of both churches. There will be a few new faces amongst the clergy in and around Retford over the next few months as we move away from the “Retford Team Parish” back to individual groups of parishes.
All For One Magazine
The latest edition covering July/August is available now.
Congratulations go to David Bean who has been ordained as a Disitinctive Deacon, he will be working with Sue Caddy in the All Hallows/St Michaels parish so do look out for him and say hello, if you have not met him.
The Ramp Fund
We are raising money to make some alterations to the access to our Chapter House, at the moment it is accessed by steps and we are looking into getting a ramp installed to make it easier for pushchair and wheelchairs users.
This weekend there is a Cheese and Wine event (Contact Pat Bloodworth – Churchwarden) if you are interested in attending as she has tickets for this event.
Look out for other events to help with this fundraising.
Last weekend the clocks went forward, heralding the beginnings of spring. Already the blue flowers at St Michael’s around the tree have bloomed and I am sure daffodils are peeking out in your garden!
The April version of “All For One” the Retford Parish Magazine is out Issue No 161 with details of all the Easter services and other events at the churches during April.
We have recently had the roof replaced on the Chapter House and the old slates and lead have been replaced by stainless steel. This means we can start to use the Chapter House more as it will be leak free. It is hoped that at some point in the not to distant future we will be able to change the steps with a ramp to make the Chapter House accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs.
